Global Data Center Players Visit The Sedenak Tech Park (STeP)

SEDENAK, July 20 - Today we welcomed the visit of a group of global data center players from the US, China and Singapore at Sedenak Tech Park (STeP). Formerly known as KIDEX, STeP is the regional data center hub located in Sedenak, in the southern Malaysian state of Johor, neighbouring to Singapore.

The global data center players visit program was a collaboration between the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and TPM Technopark Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Johor Corporation and the developer of the regional data center hub. The visit program aims to deliver the visiting global data center players a firsthand exposure on STeP, through the introduction of the regional data center hub's current facilities and future development plans.

As demand for data centers in Southeast Asia grows rapidly following the exponential growth of cloud data usage within the region, the development of hyperscale data center infrastructures becomes a compelling opportunity for both investors and operators. With access to at least 600MW of capacity, dark fibre connectivity, scalable utilities, and infrastructure, Sedenak Tech Park is home to some of the largest data and cloud players within the Southeast Asia region. The 1st phase of the center hub has already attracted an accumulated total of RM12.5 billion (USD2.8 billion) investments.

After viewing Data Center facilities and potential development sites, the visitors received a briefing by Encik Mohamad Salleh Mohamad Yusof, Managing Director of TPM Technopark Sdn Bhd and Encik Tan Tze Meng, Head Data Cloud Business Unit, Digital Infrastructure and Services Department, Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC).

During the visit, we are deeply thankful and honoured to have with us Yang Berhormat Tuan Ting Lee Han, Chairman of Investment, Trade and Consumer Affairs of Johor State Executive Committee; Tuan Haji Natazha bin Hariss,Yang Dipertua of Kulai Municipal Council; Puan Zarina Abdul Kadir, Chief Executive of Invest Johor; Encik Muhammad Shazeli Ab Gani, Assistant Director of MIDA Johor and Encik Chua Jian Boon, Special Officer to the Menteri Besar of Johor to welcome and accompany the visitors.
