New Uptown Centre for residents of Sri Sulong in Batu Pahat



BATU PAHAT, June 21 -- Residents of Sri Sulong are are overjoyed to receive their new “Uptown Centre” commercial complex. Located nearby Taman Sri Sulong, the complex, which houses 18 units of retail shops, is set to increase local economic activities and benefit residents of Sri Sulong in Batu Pahat.

Developed by TPM Technopark Sdn Bhd of Johor Corporation for the State of Johor, the new Sri Sulong Uptown Centre has been built at a faction cost of RM2 million, through the novel building concept of using cargo containers, which are in recent years popularly used in the tourism industry as chalets and restaurants. This would be the first occasion cargo containers are used to build a commercial complex adding a unique contemporary urban feel that provides an appeal to the young generation.
The move is also in line with TPM Technopark’s vision to spearhead the development of industrial areas and infrastructure projects in the region as a prudent and competitive project manager.

Besides retail shops, the Uptown Centre also has a management office and basic amenities such as parking spaces, toilets and waste disposal area.

The new Uptown Centre has been officialized by Dato’ Noraini Binti Ahmad, Minister of Higher Education cum Parit Sulong Member of Parliament, and witnessed by Tn. Hj. Abdul Halim Bin Hamzah, Johor State Development Director; Tn. Hj. Zulkiflee Bin Hj. Abbas, Batu Pahat District Officer; Tn. Hj. Kamalludin Bin Hj. Jamal, YDP Batu Pahat Municipal Council, and Tn. Hj. Ibrahim Bin Abdul Samad, Vice President, Technical & Pre-Development, Industrial Development Division, Johor Corporation.
